Educational and experimental walks through Zakole Wawerskie in Warsaw are co-created with artists and scientists in various fields, such as urban planning, ecology of wetlands, urban botany, mycology, anthropology, philosophy or hydrology, as well as social activists, journalists, writers and city dwellers.

Experiencing the plant
Guides: Grześ Stopa and Gosia Wrzosek
During a walk with biologist and nature educators Grzesiek Stopa and Gosia Wrzosek, participants tried to get closer to individual plants that inhabit and co-create the meadows and wastelands of Zakole. The methods selected to describe them were based on the subjective perception and sensitivity of each of them. The walk included movement and vocal elements proposed by the participants.

Operations on data sets
During the walk with artist and poet Maja Demska and Krystyna Jędrzejewska-Szmek, an artist with a botanical background, we will work on numerical and plant collections.
Measuring the plant cover, tree algorithms, seeds of the highest importance, phytosociological photos and attention cubes: during the walk we will face Zakole with our own body, using intuitive, primal units of measurement: hands, leaves, ears, stones, shoots, moods. Using our own body as a delicate measuring instrument, we will stretch concepts, bend stems, and create our own speculative typologies and topographies of a place.

Experiencing the plant
During another Experiencing the plant walk with biologist and nature educator Grzesiek Stopa and Zosia Stopa, the group looked into individual plants that inhabit and co-create the meadows and wastelands of Zakło. The methods selected to describe them were based on the subjective perception and sensitivity of each of us. The walk included movement and vocal elements proposed by the participants. They transformed ideas about plants into their movement and sound interpretation, which resound with a symphony of the meadow at the end.

Nature inventory walk with iNaturalist
Nature inventory walk with iNaturalist is an exploratory and inventory walk around Zakole Wawerskie. Before the walk, the group talked about previous Zakole expeditions and together we chose which route to take. After taking a look at the species they encountered along the way, participants saved them in iNaturalist.

Feel the swamp
Feel the Swamp was a multi-threaded walk with Stanisław Łubieński and Bartosz Jakubowski around Zakole Wawerskie with elements of a poetry and movement workshop. This walk is aimed at trying to feel the wetland – exploring the ground, structures and surfaces with our own bodies. The goal is to imagine how the animals living there might experience them. The participants listened about excrement, body fluids and tissue decomposition. They considered what disgusts them about it and why it disgusts them. They faced the discomfort this abomination causes us. Together they searched for a language in which they were able to talk about this experience.
