Since 2020, the Maska Institute has been developing the concept of Yugofuturism on the pages of Maska magazine intending to translate these contemplations into tangible artistic endeavors. In 2023, a new international research experimental group was established, which focuses on researching Yugofuturism with reparative methods, future anticipation and performative utopias.
Between September 11 and 13, the research group met for the first time at the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory (IFDT) in Belgrade. This meeting in the format of a micro-residency consisted of a series of seminars and lectures addressing various topics such as speculative feminism, radical visions of the future, coming of age, performance politics and others.
There was a strategic discussion that outlined the future direction of the research group. In addition to intellectual pursuits, this meeting offered a unique opportunity to foster connections and collaborative thinking with other regional initiatives and individuals.
